Biography
Taisha was born in Napier, New Zealand, the daughter of a European mother and a Maori father. At a very young age she started singing country music and won several competitions. She would spend hours in her room as a teenager singing and playing her guitar, composing songs. From performing in a high school band, at the age of 15 she went on to perform in various bands around New Zealand and Australia. Her first debut on television was at the young age of 17 singing on a variety show with a six piece band.
With a beautiful voice, four octave range and perfect pitch Taisha became in demand for many of the radio and television commercials and soon made a name for herself as one of the top session singers in New Zealand. Taisha is New Zealand's most sought after session singer and astounding R&B stylist. Her amazing voice and gifted musicality has graced recordings by a host of artists including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa to Midge Marsden.
Taisha toured the world twice with O.M.C. during the heady days of 'How Bizzare" and recently completed a sell out tour of the United States under the tutilage of Gray Bartlett and with some of New Zealand's top performers.
Her debut single 'I'll Go' received widespread airplay and featured on the NZ On Air Hit Disc #6.
Taisha is a mainstay of premier entertainment events within New Zealand. In 2008, Taisha released an album in Te Reo Maori (the indigenous language of New Zealand) with composer Malcolm Smith, under the name AONUA. At the 2008 Waiata Maori Awards, she was named Best Female Artist and AONUA's first track on the album 'Karanga' received the award for Best Maori Song.
In December 2008 Taisha traveled to Bora Bora, hosted by the President of French Polynesia, Gaston Tong Sang and Bora Bora Radio, where she gave a series of concerts - one attracting over 4000 people. AONUA has just been released in Tahiti.
Most recently, Taisha has become the 4th member of the band The Ladykillers.
Taisha is a truly gifted songstress and has all the ingredients necessary to continue her on going success.
