Biography
There are at least two bands known as Take to the Skies:
1. a Christian Deathcore band from Birmingham, Alabama
2. An industrial electro-harcore band on That Sweet Basil Records that was active late 2009 to mid 2010
In September of 2009 Matthew Washburn and Mitch Noble realized that their current band was going to come to a halt. Matthew Borders(Shawty The Elf, Corvid Canine, & Zoanthrope The Sepia Raven) offered to help them by becoming their new drummer. However, instead of staying as Armageddon Armistice the three completely reformed into a new band, Take to the Skies. The three quickly got down to work and recorded their first demo of “Walla-Walla-Washington” and a cover of Owl City’s song “Hello Seattle”
With the creation of the Owl City cover, Matthew Washburn began learning how to do screaming vocals, and the band then started to go into a different direction than the originally intended Pop-Punk/Indie feel.
In Early 2010 Garrett Johnson and Mitchell Stoklosa joined the band, the line-up switch caused a move from their electro-hardcore style to a more metalcore feel (also due to the fact that Borders had left town for college). Tensions ran high and the band eventually broke up. Washburn and Borders went on to XBrutalcoreX. Noble and Johnson went on to By All Means!
