Biography
Tay600 (now known as Tay Capone), whose real name is Germontay Carpenter, was born on November 8, 1996, in Chicago, Illinois. He is an American drill rapper known for songs like "Wasted." He started his music career in 2014 with the release of his first mixtape, My Brother’s Keeper, followed by My Brother’s Keeper 2.
Tay600 was affiliated with the 600 gang, a faction of the Black Disciples (BD) in Chicago, which is closely associated with the drill rap scene. This group includes notable rappers like RondoNumbaNine, Cdai, and LA Capone.
He was friends with LA Capone (Leonard Anderson), who was also a rapper and a key member of 600. LA Capone was known for songs like "Play for Keeps" and "Round Here" before being tragically killed in 2013. Tay600 often referenced LA Capone in his music, showing respect for his legacy.
However, Tay600’s relationship with 600 gang members became strained after he was accused of snitching on RondoNumbaNine and Cdai, who were sentenced to 39 and 38 years in prison for murder. Tay600 has repeatedly denied these allegations, claiming he was falsely blamed and that there is no paperwork proving he cooperated with the police. This situation led to tensions between him and other 600 members, causing him to distance himself from the group.
Despite the controversy, Tay600 continues to represent his own brand and keeps releasing music independently.
Tay600 has frequently mentioned LA Capone in his music, paying tribute to him after his tragic death in 2013. However, they are not related by blood.
