Biography

Taylor Prevost was born in Springfield, Illinois to his mother and father. He grew up with his older brother who was also in the same grade as him. He was influenced at an early age by his uncle who showed him early 2000's rock and metal. His favorite artists in grade school were bands such as Underoath, As I Lay Dying, Haste The Day, and many more in the Christian metal scene. He started writing music when he was 13 years old, the same age he started playing at his church with the worship band. After five years of writing songs, playing live events at his church, and starting the metal band Vacant Skies with his brother Keith Prevost and best friend Braden Thrasher, he began to grow his interest to make his music accessible to the public. They continued on to release their LP Desert with Onface Records, run by their friend Chris Roberts. This sparked an interest to record some of the songs he had been writing all of these years by himself, separate from the songs he had written with his band. This led to him working with Onface Records once again to release his debut solo EP Five Years in November 2015; the title referencing to the five years that he had been writing music on his own since he was 13. In 2016 he took a trip to Nashville, Tennessee with Braden Thrasher where they recorded the single Everything Is Finally Coming Together with their long time producer friend Josiah Damery. This began the work of discovering how they could be independent in their recording process. Through research and advice from producer friends, Taylor was inspired to write and record his first song Light Through the Darkness in late 2016 completely done by himself released with his record company Taylor Prevost Music. This was an inspiration to continue writing, recording, and producing all on his own, with the help of Braden Thrasher for writing drums. They had already been playing together for around 5 years at this point, so it was easy for Taylor and Braden to collaborate on music. Taylor started writing his next EP Beautiful with Braden playing drums on a majority of the songs. They released Beautiful early January of 2017. They began playing songs from this EP at their church during worship sets and received positive feedback. This inspired them to keep writing, using a space provided by their church that they commonly used for writing and recording. Working on their next release to come in the middle of the year, they decided to record and release a song in the meantime to please their fans while waiting. This led to the release of The Calm in March of 2017, inspired by the calm presence that Taylor had always felt when writing music. In May of 2017 they released their latest EP A Step Of Faith, their longest release featuring 6 songs flowing together to make what seems to be one long experience of their new developed sound. With two unique songs on which Taylor sings, it was a new experience for their listeners they had not yet had from them. They released this EP knowing that Taylor was leaving in a few short months for ministry school. They would end up on opposite sides of the country, but this didn't stop Taylor and Braden from collaborating. They started working on the single In Your Constant Safety in December 2017, but because of their newly different lives it would not be released until June 2018 when Taylor was back in the same area as Braden for the summer. Their new single In Your Constant Safety was their biggest hit, receiving the most streams out of all of their previous releases. As just a guitar and drum instrumental song, this really encouraged them to improve their sound and keep providing content for their listeners. Taylor, off to school again, was inspired to improve his writing and quality of sound as well. Reaching out to different genres than he had pulled from before, Taylor birthed a new sound he had not produced before known as his latest single Atmospheric Delight. Inspired by, of course, the atmosphere you see while looking at the stars, and atmospheric music he loves to listen to when enjoying an evening by himself or with friends, he wrote Atmospheric Delight to show his listeners he's not limited to one genre, or even instrument. He wrote and produced all instruments in the song, drums, guitar, piano, and bass. Taylor is making new strides to see his fans surprised yet satisfied by his upcoming sound.
