Lovely sound, especially loving their 2008 debut album Always, Sometimes, Seldom, Never

I just discovered they did a 2021 repress/remaster (CD only for now), which comes with a previously unreleased "hidden" track. But there's also a 2018 vinyl edition too.

Hi Lain! I didn't think you'd be into shoegaze. I was thinking you were more of an electronica kind of gal, based on all that time you spend at Cyberia. I mean, you have a whole DJ'ed collection under your name. (https://www.discogs.com/release/1788339-Various-Serial-Experiments-Lain-Sound-Track-Cyberia-Mix) Regardless, welcome to the fold!

True story. The guy who introduced me to Lain was a super techno guy. BUT... I may have turned him onto dream pop and shoegaze about the same time he was getting me into Lain.

Oh yes, poster from 2015. They did another album and EP after you posted this. And in 2024, they've revealed that another album is now immanent.

They were on one of the socials... Instagram, maybe? No word on a release date or even a title, but they had a video of the lead singer (Matthew Bice, I think?) on his computer, doing some very complicated looking mixing. I'm stoked; I always get worried when a band I like goes dark for a long period of time, because 9 times out of 10, they never quite back. But TRR is just playing a long game, it seems. And if you haven't heard In Surges or the Somewhere EP , or the In Surges Remix EP, you're in for a real treat!

the slowdive comparisons are apt. that bright-as-razors intensity, with the subtle melancholic aftertaste and whatnot. other interesting influential flavors rolling around in there too. love spirals downwards? lush? awesome.

Just listened to Distance for the first time in a couple of months and enjoyed it even more this time around. Great album with a lot of stunning tracks

You are simply rattling, my friend, and this rattle is cheap since there's not a single constructive argument to it. It's just your own outpour of negativity, which is not worth a Slowdive note! To each their own as you say. "Yellow Submarine" is a well constructed pop tune, which, however, does little to me on any level. Slowdive, on the other hand, has had an immense impact on my music perception and taste. I FUCKING LOVE THEM, OK? Are they influential? Well, why don't you go ask "Tears Run Rings" themselves since you apparently find them so incredibly original.

That vocal loop on "Mind The Wires"... [2] most dreamy thing I've heard in music in a long, long time. The rest of the song is cool too, but I'd love to have it minus the lead vocal track. I'd had it on repeat for days and days.
