Biography
TELECiDE was an all-girl metalcore band with electronic influences hailing from Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. The band was formed in 2016 and disbanded on December 20, 2018. The band consisted of vocalists Haruki and harsh vocalist Aki, guitarist Yui, bassist Yoko, and drummer Natsumi.
Before TELECiDE, Haruki (born Diane Colquhoun on January 28, 1996, in Okinawa) was a member of the j-pop group FAKY, performing under the name Diane (ダイアン) from 2013 to 2015. Yoko Ogino (荻野耀子, born August 26, 1994, in Fukushma) had been part of PASTEL☆JOKER from 2011 to 2012, followed by a stint as the bassist of Up's Infinity from 2012 to 2014.
TELECiDE described themselves on their website as rebels breaking free from stereotypes and trends. They aimed to transcend genres, genders, and devices, delivering music that was true to themselves while rejecting outdated ideals. The band's debut mini-album, titled "TELECiDE," was released on December 1, 2016, featuring four tracks.
Their second EP, simply titled "TELECiDE 2nd EP", released April 1, 2017. It was their only release with the label avex trax. TELECiDE played their first live at DaisyBar on 21 April, 2017.
In December 2017, Yui announced her departure from the band, which would take effect at the end of that year. Despite the vacancy in the guitar position, TELECiDE assured fans that they would continue creating music. Support members were brought in for live performances in early 2018, with plans to potentially recruit a new guitarist in the future.
TELECiDE played various live shows in 2018, sharing the stage with other bands such as HöLDERLINS, ゑんら, ILOLVE, malika, SEENA SHEEP SKIN, CODE OF ZERO, AILIS, ASTROMATE, DireWolf, WAILING ARIES, BOND LOST ACT, 輪入道, KEBAB, SCENE OF CARNAGE, LOOM, and GO GO RISE, among others. Most shows were in Shibuya. In September of the same year, they played at the TOKYO CALLING Festival in Shinjuku.
From October 15, 2018, Haruki embarked on a solo career under the name HarukiD, shortly before TELECiDE's disbandment. In November 2018, the band performed at Oni-con, an annual Japanese pop culture and multi-genre fan expo in Galveston, Texas.
On November 30, 2018, TELECiDE played what might have been their final show at the "Clash of Bands" event in Shibuya, featuring DJ GOG, Bond Lost Act, Kebab, and Fake Island. On December 20, 2018, the band announced the suspension of their activities for 2019, citing a mutual decision among the members to prioritize their individual visions.
Following the disbandment, Aki became a member of the local band Matariko, as indicated on her Twitter account. Natsumi joined the band BRIDEAR as their drummer in 2019. Haruki continued her solo career as HarukiD.
