Biography

THA CAPITAL G (born October 20, 1989), is a Haitian-American recording artist/producer from Boston, MA. He is best known for taking "Empire State of Mind" by Jay Z & Alicia Keys and creating his very own version titled "Amherst State of Mind." This song went viral on the UMass Amherst campus as well with the alumni & entire UMass community. Other students at universities in New England hopped on the bandwagon, creating their own versions including music videos, which caught the attention of broadcast news. Unfortunately, G never made the news but he silently takes credit for the trend he started. Due to his growing buzz, he was asked to open for Sammy Adams at the Mullins Center which became his first arena show. For the big performance, G recruited the Parkington Sisters (www.parkingtonsisters.com) to sing background vocals and has since then developed a close friendship with the talented band of sisters from Wellfleet, MA. Today, "Amherst State of Mind" has over 70,000 views between two YouTube uploads and over 7,400 downloads of the original mp3. G graduated UMass in May 2012 and kept his new fan base entertained with music video uploads to YouTube. After a handful of free downloads & live appearances around Massachusetts, he finally released his first full length album, "GarageBand Project" on November 26th, 2013.
