Biography

Thanh Bui (birthname: Bùi Vui Thanh; born in 1983) is an Australian-Vietnamese singer, songwriter and musician. Bui is from Abbotsford, Victoria. Born in Adelaide, South Australia, to Vietnamese Australian parents, he moved to Melbourne as a 7-year-old. He was educated at Melbourne High School, graduating in 2000. Thanh Bui was part of the boy-band North who had top ten hits in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and India, toured around Malaysia and split up in 2006. Bui was a contestant on the 6th season of Australian Idol and was eliminated during the Top 8 Results Night. Thanh Bui is the director and vocal coach at International Artist Academy, with North band member Alfred Tuohey formed Yin Yang Productions and is a successful songwriter, having written songs including Killer Queen for Jimi Blue (gold in Germany) and Dream Alive for Arashi (number 1 in Japan). He has released an ep entitled Through My Eyes He also performed on Paris by Night 96, singing an original song Mirror Mirror.
