According to The I For You Songfacts, Tyson Ritter and guitarist Nick Wheeler wrote and demoed this song in a secluded cabin in northern California's Sequoia National Park. The band decided that they didn't need to re-record the demo as it was so vulnerable and pure and they felt it couldn't be improved.
