Biography
"Holy sh-t, who are these guys?" Gas Lantern Media asked upon hearing The Amends' debut album for the first time. The quick answer to that question is that The Amends are a Boulder and Denver, CO-based indie rock and roll band formed in January of 2010. More eloquent answers may be found in other reviewers' words…
Reverb called the first album "a powerful debut (from) a band that promises great things", while I Sing In The Kitchen said The Amends are, "flat out catchy fun… cool music to the max" and Fake Plastic Tunes simply described them as "really fantastic… (I'm) truly excited." Words, Music, Baseball took it one giant leap further, saying the debut album "makes us feel as though we could live forever."
The Amends are first and foremost a rock and roll band. Their songs are driven by screaming guitar solos, jangly pianos, anthemic vocals. For their debut album, The Amends pulled from their various influences (indie, alternative, blues) to compose a kind of love letter to rock and roll– an attempt to create something exciting and new from the music that inspired them. Reverb put it like this, "… they've done their homework and honed their chops to the point where they can passionately and convincingly master nearly any permutation of good ol' rock n roll."
Band members are Drew Weikart (vocals, lead guitar), Tyler Taylor (rhythm guitar, keys, vocals), Chris Childress (bass), and Shay Byington (drums).
The Amends' second album will be out in early September 2012, and the band is planning a fall US tour to support it.
