Biography
The Animal Mothers, an eclectic rock outfit from Greensboro, NC, is comprised of four dapper young men all raised by the nurturing warmth of rock ‘n’ roll music. The four united in effort to breed a sound in deference to their music maternal mentor.
Formerly known as Silver Bullet, the group first came together in Greensboro, NC in late 2007 when members of two local rock bands joined forces: Seth Oldham, drummer of S. Burns, and Tristan Yonce and Jon Beal, of Starlyn Garvy fame. The three honed their sound while playing local venues and private parties. Realizing the power trio unit could not justly perform the material they had written, Silver Bullet recruited former Starlyn Garvy bassist, Anthony Harrison, as a second guitarist. As a four-piece, Silver Bullet was transformed into The Animal Mothers.
With the goal of incorporating all of the aspects of the music they had grown up loving, all four bring their own unique but similar sensibilities in style, musicianship, and songwriting to create The Animal Mothers. Implementing characteristics of their favorite artists: vocal harmonies of The Beatles and The Beach Boys, the lyrical mastery of Bob Dylan and Michael Nesmith, the country twang and rustic charm of The Band and The Outlaws, the artful experimentation of The Velvet Underground and The Who, and many other components of other classic artists’ music such as Blondie, Big Star, Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention, David Bowie, T. Rex and also contemporary artists like Earl Greyhound, The Avett Brothers, MGMT, and anything Jack White touches.
The Animal Mothers will be coming to your town in due time…. Prepare yourself for the return of rock ‘n’ roll. It still exists. And don’t worry…. Contrary to popular belief, you can still dance to it.
