The Black Hills were an alternative rock band from around the Lanarkshire area in Scotland who formed in January 2009. They consisted of Ross Chalmers on lead vocals, David Harper on guitar and vocals, Graham Harper on bass and David Hamill on drums and vocals.
From Scotcampus 'musicians of the month' feature from February 2010:
"The Black Hills are the newest band on this month's list, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth checking out. 'Pull/Release' reminds me of my Silverchair era from high school, but that's not meant in a bad way. It's good to hear a band from Glasgow that isn't trying to sound like Biffy Clyro or The Fratellis. Their music is catchy but too infectious and with bands like The Aliens, Beastie Boys and The Pixies under their influences it's hardly surprising they sound so good. They are still getting gigs under their beltm but they're certainly one of the bands to keep your eye on for 2010."
