Biography
The Burners have arrived. Bringing the heat from the heart of Central California is an energetic and dynamic Fresno-based group laying down heavy beats and grooves of reggae, ska, rocksteady and soul. Culling a noteworthy lineup of talented musicians from Fresno’s 40 Watt Hype, The Suppressors, and Viper City Brass, as well as San Francisco’s The Impalers, the seven-piece female-fronted group combines the rhythms of 60’s and 70’s reggae and traditional ska with a modern touch of R&B and soul-inspired vocals to create a scorching sound that can only be described as grooving and electrifying, even addicting.
The group’s debut EP - recorded by Axe Records’ David Wiens at Secret Studios in San Francisco in July - will be released as a limited run of 7” vinyl later this month and showcases the band’s individual and collaborative talents alike by putting their unique touch on two songs featuring solid reggae beats punctuated by tight, grooving horn lines and highlighting singer Danielle Rondero’s strong, soulful lead vocals.
The Burners’ debut live performance opening for ska/funk legends Fishbone at Fulton 55 in Fresno in June was a smashing success, and the group shared the stage with popular soul group The Inciters at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz in July. Future notable shows include the Rag Tag scooter rally at Audie’s Olympic in Fresno on September 24th, a September 30th gig with The Impalers in San Francisco, and the Classic Not Plastic scooter ride & rally in Long Beach on November 26th. The Burners are ready to heat up all of Cali…and beyond!
