Biography
Hailing from vibrant Southern California, THE COLOR OF SOUND combines alternative rock guitars, trap beats, and chillwave synthesizers to create a sound vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Aric Crowell has dubbed "Indie Trap". That being said, the band is not limited to one genre. Their new album, WAVE//YOU, includes the southern rock and Johnny Cash influenced "Bell Bottoms" followed immediately by the lush, longing piano ballad "(You)"
The band was formed in Fall 2015 by Crowell (at the time playing synth) along with fellow Pepperdine University students Ryan Heffernan (drums) and Keanu Vaughn (Guitar), and has included a number of musicians. The current lineup includes Crowell (primary vocalist/instrumentalist/songwriter on recordings, vocals/guitar live), fellow Pepperdine alum Ryan Murphy (vocals/keys), Hip-Hop producer Ben Berry (drums), and singer songwriter Joel Burdette (vocals/bass). THE COLOR OF SOUND is currently based in San Dimas, California, and is working on new material as well as booking live performances.
