The Creeping Terrors formed under a different name Dementia No 13 ( after the excellent British horror movie) in early 2014 in London.
Founders are Consuelo de La Muerte, bass and vocals and Sieg Ziggurat guitar, vocals and drum machine.
After about 6 months the band decided to change name as there is already another metal band called Dementia 13. The new name The Creeping Terrors is after an old low budget American horror movie.
Both Consuelo and Sieg were involved in writing music, lyrics, making all the visuals and edit the videos.
Sieg decided to leave The Creeping Terrors at the end of 2014 to pursue his career. Consuelo then reformed the band adding two guitars Johanna and Franziska and a drummer Antonia, with a full girls line up. The songs are been modified but the core and style stay the same. In Summer 2016 Franziska left the band and Graham joined in as guitar/bass player, we are so happy to have him. Now The Creeping Terrors are a mixed band but still with a common smash sexism enjoy horror attitude.
Horror and SCI-FI are the main influence in The Creeping Terrors, especially low budget old movies with a sinister sense of humor. Dark humor is also very important for the band lyrics and sound, it is a strange mix of horror, humor but also a feminist flavor which is not often mixed with the previous. It is very rare to have a band that incorporate horror on a female and feminist point of view. We like to have an aggressive unapologetic sound, fast, short songs and very much full of punk influences. This is also because Consuelo has played with two Riot Grrrls punk bands in the past, in which the last one called Pussy Face was indeed very political and performing in squats and gender equality events and produced several 7’.
The switch from drum machine to a real drummer give us a much more powerful real feeling it is been definitely an improvement although we are still using extra spooky sounds for our songs and in between them.
The visuals are also very important for us, we make our own cut ups video mix and are fully involved in directing and editing our videos. The idea came after seen Los Carniceros del Norte live for the first time years ago with very effective visuals accompany their songs one of Consuelo favorite band.
We are mainly singing in English but some Spanish and Italian songs are also added inspired from bands as Naughty Zombies for the horror and CCCP for the political. It is a strange mix but it is how we feel, horror, humor, feminism, punk all together, there are not enough girls band around even in the alternative scene often women are relegated to the pretty singer, we want girls have more fun, take an instrument and make some noise, join the mosh pit, don’t be afraid to mess up the make up :-D
