I'm glad you mentioned Maggie M'Gill! That's one of my favourites but I always felt like it was somewhat underrated.

Best Doors album ever. This and L.A. Woman are where they finally find their stride in hard blues rock that would pave the way for Black Crowes and GnR later on.

I know a lot of people love this one and it is, in fact, really good, but for me it kind of de-emphasizes what I love about the Doors, which is the unique dark psychedelic/carnival-ish feel that the self titled, Strange Days and the less dark but hook-filled Waiting for the Sun have in spades. This one to me sounds like they retreated too much from the brass- and string-laden bubblegum and gloss of The Soft Parade and became kind of a "bar band." Granted, this is the Doors, so they're the best bar band in the world, but they had a sound that was entirely their own on the first few LPs so to me it's just a little disappointing to hear them playing the same kind of bluesy rock music that tons of other bands were turning out at the time. Now, having said that, there are some GREAT songs here, so I still really like the album, but for me it's running neck and neck with The Soft Parade as their "worst"/"least best" record.
