I really don't get what people hear that's so drastically different from their other work. All their albums (with Jim) are great and I'd be hard pressed to rank them in any order. Great album, great songs!

Its good! The least good of the Jim era imo yet still good, I like all but three songs on this and I think its extremely overhated

so underrated! I understand that it alienated fans at the time who were more into the grungier and less polished sound of their first three albums, but this album is full of timeless bops

yas like, the psychedelia of their first three albums feels rougher around the edges and more centered around ONLY guitars and organs and drums. this album, on the other hand, has a lot of horns and strings and feels poppier and glossier

This is an incredibly experimental album, even by The Doors standards! Definitely way more deserving of attention than it gets, many write it off as rubbish, but it's really good, I dig it! Perhaps "Easy Ride" and "Runnin' Blue" are duds, but the rest is fantastic!

Its good, I like almost all of it (minus three songs) It's the weakest of the Jim era output but its WAY overhated, and deserves more love. It truly is a good album

I second it, especially the bit where you didn't find those two songs uninteresting, but again, like I can literally loop the rest of the album for months

God, why didn't anyone tell me how great this album is? I was expecting a real dud but I ended up loving it. To think I could've been listening to this for years. Good lord.

Okay this album is quite spectacular and has a lot of different moods and sounds. I get how a lot of people don't care for this album because it lacks the amount of Jim Morrison originals the previous albums had and they definitely got ~~softer~~ on this album. But it's pretty great and an interesting direction for The Doors toward a more pop oriented sound. However... I am glad they brought back their blues influences for Morrison Hotel and LA Woman. The title track is, of course, incredible and sounds like Jim is having a poetry slam! Stellar album!

A very, very good album. Only turkey on here is "Runnin' Blue". Sorry Robby, but you're a terrible singer. The bonus tracks on the deluxe edition are very good.

Yes, I agree, he's a fantastic guitar player and songwriter. His solos on "Light my Fire" and "LA Woman" are among the best of all-time. When I think of what psychedelic rock should sound like, I immediately think of Robby Krieger's guitar.

I would've loved to see Ray Manzarek play live. RIP. I think it was very cool that he played on Weird Al's Doors tribute, "Craigslist". Nobody knew that it'd be the last thing he'd record though! I recommend checking that song out, it's very cool.

This record is a timeless classic just like the rest of their amazing records. I can't just pick just one as they're all amazing ❤️✌️

This album is just a good and the rest of the other Doors studio albums - I don't get all the hate for this album. I can easily listen to all the songs on this wonderful gem - that includes one of personal favorites off this album "Running Blue". We all know that Jim(bo) was drinking heavily at this time and it was in fact Ray, Robby and John that had to carry that weight - and it was their efforts (not Jim's) that pulled this album through for us - the fans. It is true that Ray, Robby and John had mega hell with Jim during this album and I'm grateful that they pulled Jim into the studio (the best they could) to give the world this awesome album. Give this album another listen with an open mind & heart - If for nothing else the dedicated efforts of Ray, Robby & John. And to the memory of Ray & Jim. <3

It's really a pretty good album, but there are some bad songs here. I can dig that they wanted to go in a different direction with this one, and the presence of horns and strings and so forth makes for a good addition on several of the good songs, so it's not that the additional instrumentation is inherently bad; it's that the songwriting is spotty for the first time on a Doors album. I just can't stand "Do It" or "Runnin' Blue" and "Wishful Sinful" isn't exactly my favorite song in the world either. The other 6 songs range from good to great. So yeah, good album, just doesn't match up with the previous three records.

The title track would like to have a word with you, 1nnervision. Do It and Shaman's Blues would fit nicely on the other albums as well.

I don't understand the amount of hate this album gets. Just as good as their classics.

I hate this album. Their only "bad" album per se. I don't think I like a single track, so bad it hurts.

I can see why people don't like it, but honestly Touch Me is still one of their best and most recognizable tunes, and rightly so. Morrison belting out the vocals on in is just brilliant.

The horns and strings are a nice addition, but some song songs sound a little plastic and discoish. Has some of my favorite songs and some of my lest favorites.. I would say it's a solid album though.

In my opinion, way better than Strange Days. This is a solid album, with pretty good songs and an easy listening through the entire piece. I simply can't understand tha hating on this great album, guys.

I can see why it's disliked by many Doors fans but since I'm not a great Blues fan, I like it way more than their last two. Except for Easy Ride and the horrible country parts in Runnin' Blue I love everything on this album. Too bad they totally abandoned the Baroque Pop sound afterwards. Morrisons voice is simply awesome here. This must be Neil Hannon's favourite album of all time.
