The Drongos were formed in New Zealand to support a theater troupe, but came to New York in 1979 and found success as a street quartet. Their lineup included Jean McAllister (guitar, keyboards), Stanley John Mitchell (drums). Richard Kennedy (guitar) and Tony McMaster (bass). They were signed to Proteus Records, and released two albums: the self-titled The Drongos (1984), and the "live" album Small Miracles (1985), recorded on the streets of New York. The band broke up in 1986.
