Biography
The Frans Wieringa Trio was a Dutch jazz trio led by Frans Wieringa, from the city of Groningen, The Netherlands. A classically schooled pianist, Wieringa formed his trio in 1961. He won several jazz prizes as a soloist in The Netherlands. The trio released one album, Jazz from Holland (1968), on which the trio joined forces with trumpeter Eduard Ninck Blok, who would sometimes be credited as Eduard Nick Block and would later record frequently with Dutch pop/beat sensation Cuby + Blizzards. The Frans Wieringa Trio were regular accompanists of the American tenor sax man, Ben Webster, who was a resident of Amsterdam for some years in the 1960s.
