Some albums are way to low in the charts (like this one) cuz of mistagging. It's [album artist=The Gathering]How To Measure A Planet? (disc 1)[/album] * [album artist=The Gathering]How To Measure A Planet (disc 2)[/album] * [album artist=The Gathering]if_then_else[/album] * [album artist=The Gathering]Always...[/album] * [album artist=The Gathering]Sleepy Buildings - A Semi Acoustic Evening[/album] * [album artist=The Gathering]A Noise Severe (disc 1)[/album] * [album artist=The Gathering]A Noise Severe (disc 2)[/album]. Some others might be up for discussion (Accessories, Downfall). But get those others higher up the charts! ;-) namasté

I've just listened "Always" for the first time after 5 years- I've been shocked (again!) by the quality of the material (even taking consideration about the bad sides- sometimes weak vocals by Bart and "out of place" female vocals). Great melodies and atmosphere from the start created by Dutch band. Along Mandylion and HTMAP my favourite album made by them.

"Yeah"/ "Sure"/ "Whatever"....Don't patronize me. Your'e the one who sounds immature. You do not have a monopoly on musical taste. This is MY musical taste. And MY musical taste tells me that "Always" is an unprecedented, magical release. MY musical taste tells me that their later releases SUCK because they are a PATHETIC and/or a PRETENTIOUS attempt to change just for the sake of changing into something which is inaccessible to MY musical taste. Now let me listen to "Always" in peace and leave me and MY musical taste alone.

So if someone doesn't agree with your weak arguments- then they automatically: "Talk out of their asses"?! Bullshit, I'm entitled to my own opinion. And to sum up this futile discussion: "Always"- unprecedented, ingenious, atmospheric, inspiring. Later releases: A pretentious, weak load of crap which is even more embarassing for the band since they never got the "mainstream recognition" they longed for all these years (as both of you clowns admitted earlier).

Miss Laying: You can hate me all you want. Knock yourself out. It doesn't change the fact that "Always" shall forever remain an unprecedented, ingenious release; whilst their later releases are nothing more than mainstream music, catering for the emos and other non-metal layers. The Gathering sacrificed their musical integrity on the alter of mainstream media attention.

Ouch, Must have touched a nerve there... From a metal perspective: "Always" is a metal masterpiece. Never to be forgotten. Their later stuff is so ridiculous, so embarassing- you just have to suspect that these guys were emasculated or somethin. Selling out (like they did) does not mean they become better. Selling out (like they did) doesn't mean that the rest of us metal-heads need to follow their pathetic musical decisions

Not only is "Always" their best album- it is indeed one of the best doom metal albums, in existance. It is irreplaceable and duplicated by non. Their new line-up and their new material and style is simply embarrassing, almost a mockery to everything we metal-heads stand for. What a waste...

oh c'mon... being some kind of death-doom-metal this album is quite a good one! it reminds me of early Paradise Lost... i even hear a bit of early Amorphis in it... which is no bad thing imho... of course it is definitely not comparable to the stuff they did with Anneke, there's no question. and, btw... how can an album from TG be bad in any way?
