Definitely a classic. One of the pioneering post punk/alt blues records. Sounds 10 years ahead of it's time. By 1990 everyone was trying to sound like this

Godlike record, heralding the arrival of Jeffrey Lee Pierce onto the music scene. This guy was a goddamn killer songwriter from day one. He gained a bit more subtlety/nuance as time passed, but his talent was there in abundance from the jump, and this album is packed with great songs and brilliant performances. This is what "Psychobilly" and "Punk Blues" should sound like, and to me JLP/The Gun Club is far superior to Nick Cave (and the Bad Seeds) at doing the Punk/Post-Punk take on the Blues/Roots music (not saying he's a better overall songwriter, mind you; although I'm also not NOT saying that ;)). Buy this one, then buy all their other albums, because they're all great.

I can see (or more precisely "hear") why this band was a fave of Johnny Marr. Good stuff.
