The band was born in Turin, IT in September 1997 and its name was Ephel Dùath. Its first structure was made up of vocals - guitars - bass guitar - violin - flutes - piano - keyboards and drums; later on the last three elements have been replaced by a drum machine and by several effects pre-recorded with a digital technology.
In March 1998, Ephel Dùath release their first self-produced demo CD "Demo 00" made up of four passages recorded in cooperation with other musicians: Marco Giaccaria (viola) Gabriele and Lorenzo Montanaro ( violoncellos) and Fabrizio Saraco (drum).
Since February 2001, the band has changed its name that is now The Head Stops and it has released its second self-produced demo CD "Overjoyed Ne'er-Do-Well".
The line-up is made up by: Alessio Casalini (vocals, guitars,drum machine, loops and electronics), Damiano Casalini (bass guitar), Giuseppe Filicetti (violin) and Andrea Pontillo (flutes and synth).
The band presents a sound characterised by several influences, from the classical music to the new wave, to the electronic music and to other genres. The texts, beyond some exceptions, are really very introspective; they deal with feelings, moods and thoughts…
