Biography
The Hip Bop Experiment is an ongoing recording project based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Its goal is to promote musical growth and to explore frontier musical scenarios within jazz, hip hop, and funk styles. The Experiment emphasizes a symbiotic musical relationship between live jazz musicians and hip hop artists, with a foundation in jazz arranging. Completely void of "samples," the Experiment draws on both original compositions and adapted jazz standards, creating a sound unlike anything attempted on a large scale in the hip hop or jazz worlds.
