Biography
There are / have been at least three different bands named The Hype.
1. The Hype was a young Britpop band from Haarlem, The Netherlands. Having won a bunch of talent awards in The Netherlands, including the InHolland Popprijs and the Rob Acda Award, they released their debut EP The Hype Under Construction (2006) to critical acclaim. It then took them five years to come up with a full-length album: Have You Heard The Hype? finally came out in 2011, charting at #53 in The Netherlands. The group split up in 2013. Frontman Yorick van Norden embarked on a successful solo career.
2. The Hype were a five-piece band from Brighton, United Kingdom. Influenced by current indie / electro / alternative bands from Brighton, they released their demo, Don't Judge A Lover By A Good Looking Cover.
3. The Hype was a metal band from Westwoud, The Netherlands. Active from about 1994 until 1998 in which they released three demos. The band brief re-united for live performances in 2016.
