Biography

Charlotte County's own: The Ideal Gas Law (TIGL)

A band comprised of 4 guitar players, they combine several aspects of music into a refreshing new mix of Alternative Rock, with the potential to turn their set on a dime and deliver an electronic bouquet of spatial darkness. As day turns to night, as does the sound of this young refurbished group of imbeciles.

Having undergone several changes in the Drummer position over the last 2 years, as well as a recent change behind the bass, The Ideal Gas Law has finally established and developed the sound they've been working towards for their entire brief existence. Now, with all the pieces in place, these gentlemen are excited to share their music with everyone and anyone willing to take part in the TIGL experience.

"A sound with no classification is a sound with unlimited potential & opinion… TIGL's sound is an expression, felt by those who listen and open themselves up to the beat of their emotions." - HERE NB

Over the last few years, during the first breaths of the band, The Ideal Gas Law has had the privilege of sharing the stage with several great acts from all across Canada, including 'Slowcoaster', 'JSB', 'Dr.Dfunkt', 'Blue Quarter', 'King Sunshine', & 'The Wassabi Collective'. They were also lucky enough to play with many great bands from all over the globe, including 'Garaj Mahal' (California), 'Blue King Brown' (Australia), & 'Chin Chin' (New York).

The Ideal Gas Law is:

Chris McAleenan - Guitar / Vocals
A founding member of the Ideal Gas Law, Chris has been playing the guitar since he was just a young lad. He also knows his way around the harmonica. Singer/Songwriter since early high school, he has only ever been a part of one band; TIGL. Some of his biggest musical influences are Brandon Boyd, Jake Cinninger, and Dave Grohl.

Ryan Kinney - Guitar / Korg
Also a founding member of the Ideal Gas Law, Ryan also played for the Supermonkeys before helping give birth to TIGL. He and Chris have been playing music together since they can remember and have known each other their entire lives. Ryan's music is heavily influenced by names such as Josh Homme, Neil Young, and Trent Reznor, to name a few.

Jay Merrill - Drums / Vocals
For a while, Jay spent half his time getting a music education at McGill University and the other half on the streets of Montreal. Learning from the emerging and ever blossoming Montreal sound-scape, Jay brought what he learned back to the Maritimes. Since then he has played in a few different bands, but has found a comfortable and exciting spot back on the traps for the Ideal Gas Law. He is also the lead singer and guitarist for local band Gordon Gets Lost

Jon Hill - Bass
For the past 2 years Jon has been studying to become an Audio Engineer at the Centre for Arts and Technology in Fredericton. Former guitarist for local band Mister Drifter, Jon recently found a passion for the Bass, and has taken over the low end duties for The Ideal Gas Law.
