Biography

In August 1964 'THE KING FAMILY SHOW ' debuted on ABC-TV as a special. Response from viewers was immediate and the show returned as a weekly series in January 1965. This signaled the beginning of a long, successful career for one of the largest musical casts on television–40 members of one family.

The Family represented the children, husbands, in-laws and brothers of the popular King Sisters quartette. Singing en masse or in smaller groups like The King Cousins, the King Sisters headed one of singing-est families in showbiz history. Guitarist Alvino Rey, with whom the King Sisters toured in the Big Band era, added star power to the show. He married Luise King.

The Kings were upbeat, stunningly attractive,(mostly blondes), brilliantly costumed, and performed with verve, talent and humor. A strong fan base developed which exists 40 years after the show debuted.

'The King Family Show' appeared weekly in 1965, 1966 and 1969. The group also produced a dozen 'holiday tv specials' and appeared on important variety programs of the era, including 'The Hollywood Palace' and 'The Ed Sullivan Show'. They recorded prolifically for Warner Brothers.

As a live act, The King Family toured extensively until 1978. When the King Family split professionally most of the younger generation pursued non musical careers. The King Sisters performed until the late 1980s. The Family regrouped once more at the Utah Centennial in 1996.

The King Family looks back on an exciting, satisfying experiences during their heyday. At reunions they still sing and reminisce over a successful career as America's favorite singing family.
