"Art Lover" is a witty and whimsical track that follows in the tradition of "Lola", that being the remarkably controversial topic explored by each given the times these tracks were both composed.

Art Lover tackles pedophilia at a time when few knew what the word even meant, and it does so in a way that, surprisingly enough, is actually rather humorous.

Unlike the Lola of better renown, Davies takes on this role in the "first person".(yes!). He sits in the park, watching all the lovely little girls —"ballerinas!" — go by, wondering to himself why people call him all those nasty names? Why, he's clearly just someone that can appreciate the beauty and innocence of youth. He's merely an "art lover"!

A deliciously wicked ditty.

EDIT: It is a song about a father missing his daughter. See Creem Magazine article dated December of 1981.
