Biography
The Lowtechs are Gelo Lagasca (lead vocals/guitars), Lemuel Galleto(lead guitars/vocals), Edong Bareng (bass/back-up vocals) and Joseph Navalta (drums). These Baguio underground veterans formed in April 2007 with original drummer Pot Quiambao.
Initially armed with terribly low tech rehearsal equipment, they attempted to form a Doors-inspired band, but quickly snapped on 80's rock icons as musical influences thus creating their own brand of post-punk and metal music.
The band independently released their debut album “Anniversary of the Machinery” under Freezer Disk Recordings on May 2009 and toured it in the most popular bars in Metro-Manila and Baguio City. Their cult hit “Tears of Fire” is now taking the Manila indie scene by storm. They were also featured in rock, alternative and indie radio stations.
Philippine music critic/writer, Aldus Santos, aptly describes them as visually and musically dangerous: “The band provides what is lacking in local rock these days: a sense of danger. With their tattoos pier-variety Aria guitars, a collective all-black wardrobe, foreboding chord choices, and the best mock- metal lyrics this side of the metro. (“These tears of fire/will bring you disaster.” from “Tears of Fire”), The Lowtechs will hopefully not just scare you but provide you with the spankiest postpunk from Generation Now.”
