Biography
The Malarkeys are a Celtic rock band based in Kelowna, BC, Canada. They debuted on March 17, 2007, and released their first album, "Bloody Brilliant", on March 17, 2010. The band was started by Karl and Gail Hourigan, with keyboardist Lisa Grekul and drummer Ryan Campbell. The lineup changed when Ryan Campbell left the band and was replaced by current drummer Jay Dallamore. Fiddle player Eddie Plotnikoff joined in 2009, and then accordionist Rod Miller joined up in 2010.
The album has been favorably reviewed in Canada's premier folk magazine, Penquin Eggs. The band's video for their song "Work is the Curse" has been nominated for best music video at the 2010 Okanagan International Film Festival.
