Biography
The Narcists are a new, young band from Holland formed in the beginning of 2006. They started out as a three man band, consisting of Guido Evers on bass, Jens Kat working his guitar and Steven Kok on the drums. At this point they didn't have vocals, or any real ideas of what music they would make. About three months after the founding of the band, they stumbled upon Jacob Oostra. Playing guitar, keys, and accoustic guitar, he was a welcome addition to their little party. They played in this formation for a month, trying to develop a sound. This wasn't very easy without vocals, so a new search was opened. It didn't take very long to find one, and Hedde van der Veer came and gave them a crucial and final addition to the band. The name followed after that, thought up during a schoolclass at 9.45 in the morning. The gathering of members was now over, and they were ready to actually start making some music! Playing some covers for a while to get to know each other musically they started out with bands like The Strokes, Bloc Party and Queens of the Stone Age. They started to begin to write their own songs, and this is what they are today. An energetic, passionate but most of all rockin' band, with a unique twist.
