The Other Dramas are one half Oxford pop - Maria on vocals/guitar and one half Plymouth rock - Richie on drums/vocals. They met when they both joined Mark Cope’s (The Candyskins) band, Ninestone Cowboy. They bonded over their mutual love of chips and Baileys (and later on… Baileys in coffee = ‘happy coffee’) and while discussing shared musical influences one night they had this brainwave “Why not start a band just the two of us??”.

After a while trying to figure this out they recorded their first single ‘Radio’ and in 2017 The Other Dramas were properly born armed with an arsenal of pop vocal hooks and harmonies over garage punk riffs and beats.

Since then they have played at Common People Oxford, Ritual Union and Riverside Festivals, released two singles Radio and The Future Is a Holiday and supported their heroines Deap Vally and PINS meeting a whole bunch of awesome people and having the best time while doing it.

Their second single The Future Is a Holiday has just been released at two special release parties with LA Witch and Bikini Death Race.

Maria is a self-confessed cacti maniac and has tried to hula hoop but can’t.
Richie loves Plymouth Argyle FC and is partial to an all night Mario Kart session.

But enough about them, what do other people think about them?…

“Finding that sweet spot between bubblegum pop simplicity and gnarly grunged-up garage rock, like Lily Allen joining L7” -Nightshift Magazine

"Lead track, Radio features the duo replicating the repetitive beats of a Cowley factory floor in the manner of The Stooges hammering their way through Detroit." -Oxfordshire Music Scene Magazine

“The band with the best hair in Oxford” -Nightshift Magazine

“Recent single Radio slips into a Blondie-fied, hypnotic, driving pulse – a radio hit in an ideal world.” - Oxfordshire Music Scene Magazine

"Is heatwave pop a thing? If not then The Other Dramas may just have invented it."
"like Black Honey having a barbecue with The Cardigans and Wolf Alice" - @thedevilstuna
