Biography
It all began when Adam and Chris lost their guitar player of 8 years to a tragic death on Nov.19/09. They were left with a decision to either call it quits, or rise up and do something great. Two months later "THE PLAYDATES" were born.
You could compare "THE PLAYDATES" to a box of crayons. Each member is a different color, but mixed together, they make new and exciting colors. This is the approach they have taken with their music, creating the first rainbow you can listen to.
Adam (Purple) - Singer/Songwriter and Bassist of the band, Adam grew up listening to bands like Journey, Def Leppard and Aerosmith, which lead him to concentrate on the hooks of songs, not only in the chorus', but throughout the entire song. With over 8 years of touring and writing songs under his belt, He is now writing the best songs of his career, and he's ready to show the world.
Chris (Pink) - Drummer of the band, and Adam's musical partner in crime for over 12 years, Chris has honed his beat making skills to provide extra hooks under the melodies. Influenced by acts such as Duran Duran, Motley Crue, and genres like Underground Hip Hop and the 90's Alt/Rock movement, he hits perfectly placed accents with authority, begging fans to dance all night long.
Aaron (Blue) - Guitarist of the band, unlike most young men of today grew up listening to Jazz and Blues. Beginning to play guitar at the age of 15 he lost himself in the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Allman Brothers. The youngest of the four, but most technically knowledgeable, AK shines with his ability to make the guitar talk with his sexy licks.
Ryker (Yellow) - As Keyboardist of the band, Ryker brings the noise on the keys, with the ability to put sounds in their place, and the skill to shred up a storm if necessary. Growing up on the indie rock scene, he has been influenced by acts like Cake, Lights, Owl City and Ayreon; He's the icing on the cake, and the perfect compliment to the other members visions.
THE PLAYDATES may have only formed in January of 2010, but they have already hooked up with upcoming producer Luc Tellier who has worked with bands like "The New Cities" and "The Mission District" and they've booked a Canadian Tour for the summer. With no plans of slowing down, and a 10 year self taught (Do It Yourself) attitude, it's only a matter of time until the world comes out to play!
