Biography

Somewhere between grunge, punk and alternative rock – The Red Flags from Cologne, Germany use their music to express the anger and worries that concern them every day. Whether about feminism, identity, social inequalities or interpersonal relationships, their songs are loud, chaotic and bring a very special energy to the stage. Inspired by legendary bands like Nirvana, Hole and the Dead Kennedys, as well as current musicians like Amyl and the Sniffers, the band from Cologne puts a modern spin on an old sound and is slowly making a name for themselves in the city's underground scene. After the musicians were selected as prizewinners at the Young Music Scene meeting last year, they won the final of the SPH Music Masters Band Competition this May. They also had the opportunity to perform their first single “Who?” at the “Rock am Ring” festival in front of around 30,000 people as part of the television program “Let yourself be monitored”, a format by the satirist Jan Böhmermann. Since the release of this single in March 2024 and their second song “Hysterical Woman” in July 2024, the band has continued to work on new music and plans to record and release their debut album together with star producer Moses Schneider next year.
