Biography
Austria..s finest Rock..n..Roll outfit "The Rioters" were founded back in 1998. It was a distinct love for Rock..n..Roll, and for booze-soaked pubs, that caused original members Harald Huber (dr), Harald Weissengruber (git), Manuel Graf (b) and Andreas "Jacky" Mayerhofer (voc) to pick up their instruments - though none of them had any serious musical experience. After the first rehearsals and small gigs at friends.. parties, Igor Maravic joined the band on rhythm guitar. In the beginning, the live set was dominated by covers of Rock..n..Roll classics, but soon the Rioters started writing their own stuff. It took some time, but along the years they highly improved their musical skills. A big impulse on their path was the recruiting of their long lasting friend Ronald Steinböck on management. To the day, the band can proudly look back on numerous gigs, most of them all over Austria, but they were also highly acclaimed for their concerts in Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain and even the Golan Heights! Always with the boys: their fellows of the "Riotclub" - the official Rioters Fanclub since 2004.
Rockabilly and Rock..n..Roll always have been the major influences for The Rioters. Today they are known for their own unique style: still classic Rock..n..Roll, peppered with slices of Ska, Rock, Surf and Punkrock.
Due to a career decission, Igor had to pull out in 2006. So Harald W. took over on rhythm guitar, and Orges Toce joined The Rioters on lead guitar. This line up lasted till December 2006, when Orges sadly had to leave the band.
