There are atleast six bands with this name;

1) The Riots are a band from Perm, Russia. Previously known as The White Trainers Community and Bank Holiday, the band changed its name in 2009 with addition of new bass and keyboard players. Sound changes followed as well, / influences are clearly heard in new tracks. Current lineup consists of Sasha Bolotov (vocals, guitar), Alex Shanin (drums), Konstantin Tarasov (bass) and Ilya Chebonenko (keyboards).

2) The Riots was a ska band from Jamaica, and was signed up with the famous Trojan Record Label.

3) The Riots were a band based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Fronted by married couple Ryan and Casey Dawson in 2001. They disbanded in 2005 after releasing only one EP and one full-length album.
The Dawsons now front a / project called Paw Paw.

4) The Riots were a rock'n'roll band from Netherlands.

5) The Riots were a punk band from Belgium

6 Riots are a band from Oslo, Norway.

Formerly known as Goldcrush. Got together in 2000, then consisting of Mathias Svensson (guitar), Louise Hellman (vocals) and Mari Eriksson (bass). They shortly after forming recruited Allan Bosan on drums.

After playing a number og gigs and recording 3 demos they sacked the drummer. The next months they used a drum machine, before Paul Mileman steped in as drummer for the recording of their 4th demo in February 2005. This got alot of possitve response to this demo, where they had support from The (International) Noise Conspiracy and UK Subs.

2006 they did their first UK tour, and after being the backing band for Charlie Harper in 2007 Gisle Bangsund joined the band as a new vocalist. 2009 they released their first 7", Another Train EP. This release gave them more gigs, among others several support shows for UK Subs.

2010 and 2011 they toured Europe and they released 2 albums to support these tours.

In November they took the name Riots. And in April 2012 they released their first official full album on the Chinese label - Kids Union Records, this was also released as 12" in May by Subversive Records in Oslo.
