If anyone ever comes up to you and says that The Shanghai Times‘ full debut album rocks… kick them in the teeth and reply, “That’s an understatement, you bloody infidel!” To simply say the this album ‘rocks’, doesn’t do it justice.

So, what do you do when your guitarist bails on you the night before a radio performance? It was a situation The Shanghai Times found themselves in in December, 2010. Not an ideal situation but as band member Darren Hardy tells me, good things can come from crappy circumstances. “I meet Ash at a party and we ran through ‘There She Goes’ on a couple of acoustic guitars and this melodic, eerie and soulful angst comes out of the song. The chemistry was good and I instantly knew that we had something special.”
