Biography
The Silver Abduction is a collaboration between singer Allison Brice (The 18th Day Of May, Lake Ruth) and musician/producer Andy Dragazis (Blue States). The Silver Abduction’s history dates back to 2006. Instantly taken by Brice’s haunting voice a musical friendship blossomed, leading to the creation of their first track - Underground. To complete their sound they recruited drummer Phil Jenkins, (Brave Captain, Broadcast), who recorded his heavily reverbed drum parts in a church in Gwent - perfectly complemented the band’s atmospheric and intricate compositions.
There is a distinctive beauty and quality to The Silver Abduction’s sound - with Brice’s sweet, haunting melodies and Dragazis’s dense and lush orchestration. However, the album hides a darker story - about the disappearance of a girl named Cecile. The unsettling, foreboding nature of Brices’s lyrics and the unknown fate of Cecile weave like a thread through the whole album in such a way that they cast a beautiful shadow over even the most euphoric moments of the album.
Taking influences from Shirley Collins, The Crying Shames, Joe Meek, Julie Cruise and Morricone, those aware of Blue States, The 18th Day of May, and Lake Ruth will find much to love in this new venture. New listeners however will discover a band that resonates in beauty but hides a dark shadow, beneath the silvery lake.
