The Supers are really two guys. Session bassist Maury Lafoy, and guitarist Graham Powell. Together they form a songwriting duo that consistently produces some of the freshest, most innovative, most affecting music today. No surprise, really. The pair have been writing together for years, gracefully evolving, and freely drawing on a diverse array of influences, like Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Rickie Lee Jones, XTC, and the Meters. The thing about the Supers is their diversity. They're just as comfortable, and capable, of packing a dance floor with the infectious power pop of "Turn" (from the critically acclaimed 2001 release "Spklanng!") as enveloping the listener with the gorgeous, haunting landscape of "Only You"; a song that won the heart and the mind of Barenaked Ladies leader, Ed Robertson, who loudly and proudly counts himself a fan.
