Biography
This all-male Eastern Georgian ensemble specializes in "table songs" – not songs about tables, but sung at tables at holidays, feasts, marriages, births, deaths, and other special events. With their beautiful polyphonic vocals and strong harmonies, they evoke comparisons to the work of another all-male Georgian ensemble, the Rustavi Choir. Their polyphonic arrangements will appeal to fans of the Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares series in its similar devotional tone and expert vocal interplay, though Western listeners tend to find this branch of Georgian music smoother and less striking than the famous female Bulgarian choirs. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
