Biography

There are 2 artists with this name (a Scottish band and an American band):

1) Formed in Edinburgh, August 2006. The Vivians were made by long term friends and strangers; Damon, Chris, Kit, Scott & John who are now based in London. With their "gives a fuck" attitude The Vivians do nothing by halves. This attitude may be reminiscent of "punk" although their music refreshingly takes influence from a broader musical spectrum. Twin guitars fighting one another for the rawest, catchiest riff over a disco beat and impassioned vocals of Damon Deville, creating the perfect musical concoction for their exhausting live performances.

2) The Vivians is a rock band from Cleveland, Ohio formed in 1988 who shared members with many of that city’s avant-punk outfits, including Pere Ubu. The “CLE 3X” compilation features their version of Pere Ubu’s “Codex” as well as the original composition “One Eye.” They were also featured on From The Eerie Shore compilation along with Pere Ubu side-project Home And Garden and other local Cleveland post-punk bands.
The Vivians were: drummer Scott Benedict (DWI), vocalist Diane Duncan, guitarist Michelle Temple (Home And Garden, Pere Ubu), and bassist Rae Martello (The Heathers). In the early 90s they toured with bands such as Urge Overkill. In 1995, the band became a duo consisting of only Duncan and Temple. The Vivians also recorded with artists Jim Jones (Pere Ubu, Home And Garden, Easter Monkeys) and Tom Dark (The Dark, Knifedance).
