Biography

The Woo!worths make infectious, colourful, harmony-heavy & rhythmic Pop music with a blend of organic & electronic sounds. Their trio of members originate from London, Brussels & Brighton but their music making happens in Brighton & London. Their debut release is in the making

Where they came from……… Richard Smith and Steve Baker teamed up to work on some of Mr. Smith's songs soon after their previous band had ceased operations. After finishing a few demo's, forming a band seemed logical. A name arrived, a myspace profile was created and soon they were offered their first gig - a noisy affair at a packed out Prince Albert in Brighton. Some time later, they recruited the eminently versatile Jo Bramli (Largo, We Are Snazzy & Imitation Electric Piano) on synths & vocals, bringing new textures and colours; and The Woo!worths as they are today were formed.

The band have played live extensively including sets at The Dublin Castle, The Old Queens Head, 93 Feet East, Proud Camden, 229, Coalition, Jam, The Fly Bar, Notting Hill Arts Club, Audio, Shoreditch House, Concorde2, The Hope, Monto Water Rats & The Rhythm Factory. In summer 2009, legendary photographer Rankin picked the band from thousands of entries as winners of his 'Rankin Live' competition Their prize was a photo-shoot with Rankin and a slot on a major stage at The Big Chill 2009. They were then requested to entertain the guests and VIP's with an afternoon and late night live show and the experience was a huge highlight in the bands career to date. The photos from the Rankin shoot made the pages of Esquire and Dazed & Confused magazines and Rankin asked the band to support Little Boots at the 'Destroy Rankin' exhibition at Philip de Pury gallery in London. They were also the only band to entertain the guests at the Rankin Live closing party.

One of the highlights of 2010 so far was opening for Little Dragon in Brighton. As big fans of theirs, it was a pleasure to share a stage as well as their discerning audience. The band recently returned to The Big Chill in 2010 playing on the Solaraid stage as well as headling in the East Rooms Guest area on Saturday ********************************************************************************************************** Unsigned, non-managed and independent, they are currently writing and recording their debut release as well as developing their live set up.
