wailers band generally refers to band's featuring former members of Bob Marley &The Wailers. The band has continued on decades after Marley's death playing the old hits and occasionally releases new original music. Members have varied over the years, and as time passes, the legitimacy of the lineups drift away more & more from the original band that backed Bob Marley. They are sometimes known simply as the wailers, or the original wailers. When Carlton Barrett died in 1987, Aston Familyman Barrett and guitarist Al Anderson became the only original Wailers from the Bob Marley era still recording & touring with the band today.
The Wailers band that recorded & backed Bob Marley included:
Junior Braithwaite/artist] • Beverley Kelso • Bunny Wailer • Peter Tosh • Cherry Smith
Aston Barrett • Earl Lindo • Al Anderson • Carlton Barrett • Alvin Patterson • Junior Marvin • Donald Kinsey • Tyrone Downie
They were often joined on tours by the I Threes back up singers;
Rita Marley • Judy Mowatt • Marcia Griffiths
Recent lineups have included: Elan Atias on lead vocals, Al Anderson on Lead Guitar, Aston "Family Man" Barrett on Bass, Keith Sterling on Keys, Drummie Zeb on Drums, Marcia Griffiths on background vocals (aka Wailers Sister)
