Biography

The Wall Of Fur was originally conceived in 1997 by Nottingham underground luminary William C. Short as a solo outlet for his self-styled 'retro-neurotic/melancholic' outpourings with accompanying 'neon drenched soundtracks'. Initially influenced by the then current London 'noir' band Gallon Drunk, the film soundtracks of Ennio Morricone, mid 1960's garage punk and a never ending list of cinematic and literary references, the 'band' were active from the years 1997 - 2000. An albums worth of material was recorded in 1998 and 1999 at Victor Mono's home studio (all entirely played and self composed by Short) and these recordings were released as a very limited edition CD, "They Know Not What They Do…" in spring 2000. A number of short super-8 films were also made at the time to accompany some of the songs. Bizarrely, Island Records showed an interest in signing the band in late 1999 although contractual wrangling led to the offer being withdrawn. Since late 2000, the project has been placed on permanent hold whilst Short continued to pursue a more angular experimental post-punk direction with relatively short lived projects such as Ondine and Kristallnacht. Currently both Short and Victor Mono are two thirds of the unholy trinities that are Love Gestapo (currently resting) and Former Airline.
