Biography

Hailing from rural Southeast Ohio, The Wayfarers emerged onto the scene in early 2010 playing their own form of American Stringband music. While much of their repertoire is rooted in the Appalachian tradition they revere, The Wayfarers shed new light on old tunes, fusing top-notch musicianship with the high energy that characterized early mountain music. The Wayfarers find fans among listeners who enjoy bluegrass and traditional country, but the appeal is much wider than that. The tunes are more than 150 years old; yet somehow are perfect for here and now. People of all ages, from all walks of life, with a variety of musical tastes are drawn in to the sounds of thumping washtub bass, driving guitars, sawing fiddles, and tight-knit harmonies. Whether it's at a large festival or a barn square dance, a rock venue or a back porch, The Wayfarers continue to carry this music forward with creativity and authenticity, making it contemporary and fun.
