Biography
TheaTerRa is the heartcore brainchild of Dutch multimedia artist Michaelangelo:
"After
a revelational encounter in the desert with a race of terrestrial
extras that I called Metrognomes, who taught me how to beatbox, I
created a collection of sonic paintings under name TheaTerRa: a stage in
evolution. Thea means Goddess, and is also my mother's name. Terra
means earth - the theatrical stage on which our lives play out, spotlit
by the sungod, heavens' radiant eye (Theater Ra).
When it was spawned a few years ago TheaTerRa was a mirage band, consisting at first just of myself, beatboxing and vocalizing a process
of cosmic downloads that developed into economically sound and ego-gnomically unsound lyrical/vocal compositions/musical stories. Since
then, in order to create a live experience without having to clone myself, selected melodies that I had plucked like fruits from the sacred geome-tree, have undergone a second stage of frequential translation.
With the addition of Brian Byrnes' sensible mimetic instrumentality (guitar and vocal harmonies), and Steve Winchell's entheogentle additions ranging from a bowed glockenspiel to Tuvan Throatsinging to jawharp, etc, we have been able to bring the songs to life; and now a secondary archangel, Gabriel Goldberg, has been added as a third to the
harmonic mix, and as a fourth to the seven-piece band which is now getting ready to woof its wings, feathered by Aaron Goldsmith on bass & bass sitar, Alex Weston on trombone and the esteemed resident of the harmonic void mr. Leo Suarez on cello."
