Biography
Emerging from the ever-diverse New England music scene, four minds have come together to form one complete musical soul, and one unmistakable sound. The band is Thirty Stones and their forth coming CD, "Canvas", has everything it takes to grab hold of your soul and blow your mind. Formed in April 1998 in Springfield, Ma, Thirty Stones have been packing venues in the New England and New York areas for the past 4 years. They have created a strong following of rabid and dedicated fans, with their brand of "explosive-melodic metal" and intense live show.
With the release of their CD Canvas, Thirty Stones have received a large amount of radio airplay across the country, charting in the top 50 on the CMJ and FMQB radio charts for over a month. The band charted higher than artists on some major record labels, a feature that is not the normal for a band that had yet to sign its own deal.
In these 11 tracks, Thirty Stones excercises the pain and anxiety of life, slicing through the emotional knots into which we tie ourselves everyday. "Music is our life, our outlet, our source of therapy", proclaims Thirty Stones former guitarist Andrew Freeman. "It is impossible for the members of this band to live a normal existence." That attitude, combined with their diverse musical backgrounds is proof that Thirty Stones is an unstoppabled force in the music industry.
Thirty Stones recently underwent a change in lineup. Guitarist Andrew Freeman, Bassist John St. Onge and Drummer Jonathan Girard have moved onto new endeavors. Andy has been doing solo work as well as working with George Lynch of Dokken and Lynch Mob. John is now part of the hard rocking band Swill Merchants. And Jonathan has moved out to California to start work with Andy. They were a huge part of what Thirty Stones is today so their pictures remain in tribute to these great musicians. Thirty Stones welcome guitarist Josh Enemy, bassist Benjamin Jon and Drummer Matt 9 also of Stare Down the Sun.
