Biography
Formed in 2011 under the name “The Blessing of This Curse” in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, This Curse is comprised of Ethan Kennedy (vocals), Joey Galletta (vocals/guitar), Blake Van Curen (bass), Branton Shpilevsky (keys), and Jake Fletcher (drums). As the band developed their heavy meets catchy “metal-core” sound, they released three EPs which began to build their local following and beyond.
After their 2016 EP release Emergence, the lead single “Quicksand” was featured on Spotify’s “Metalcore” playlist, amongst bands such as Asking Alexandria and Crown The Empire. In 2017, the band rebranded under a new moniker, “This Curse” and re-released their single “Quicksand” (currently sitting at over half a million streams) coupled by a music video directed by Eric DiCarlo. Shortly after, the band embarked on their first tour as TC and began writing what will be their debut record.
That Summer, the band entered the studio with Ricky Armellino (This Or The Apocalypse) and Andreas Magnusson (Scarlet, Haste The Day, The Black Dahlia Murder) to create a full length record with a brand new vision. With new music, videos, and more coming in 2018, This Curse is showing no signs of slowing down.
