Biography

In an era when classic songwriting is hard to come by, London-based solo artist Thom Cross is taking the best parts of influences as diverse as The Smashing Pumpkins, The Police and Sigur Rós, and turning them into something that top music blog Risk and Consequence calls a “text book example” of modern pop.

And when a voice is described as ‘Bowie meets Bono’, then you know you have found an artist who understands that pop music can be both intelligent and accessible.

The New Zealand-born singer recently self-released his debut EP, recorded by Grammy-award winning producer/engineer Guy Massey (Manic Street Preachers, The Coral, The Beatles).

Songs from the EP have since featured on NME Radio, received regional airplay on key tastemaker shows in the UK and crossed the Atlantic to rock radio in North America.

Tracks also featured on key blogs such as The 405 and the Indie Playlist podcast alongside Radiohead and The Maccabees. Moreover, the EP’s closing track, 'O, Constellations!', was nominated as Track of the Year by the Labelled Independent podcast.

Since then he's been in the studio writing and recording a follow-up, and collaborating with the likes of Paul Steel (Mika) and Swedish producer Martin Hedstrom.

Most recently, Thom featured on a single by acclaimed UK DJ Dan Spartacus, released through revered dance label, Ego Music in December 2013.

Thom will release his debut radio single, 'Heavy Sea', in February 2014.
