Thuunderboy! is actually Ted Conrad, son of famed minimalist composer/violinist Tony Conrad (who worked with New York musicians such as John Cale, La Monte Young, and others in the early 1960s). Ted was born in 1971, shortly before the family moved to Buffalo, where Tony accepted a teaching position. At the age of two, the younger Conrad learned to operate a turntable.
