The first usage of the name Tinman was by producer Paul Dakeyne in 1994, who is most known for the UK top ten hit "Eighteen Strings". Tinman's "Eighteen Strings" was an international hit, also charting top twenty in The Netherlands and Australia.

Tinman are Jeff, Luke and Ben hailing from the southern suburbs of Victoria. Formed in early 2004, the trio have released two EP's to date, Their first, Self titled, and second Recreation.
